Benchmade Apparition BM670 Assisted Opening Lock Knife made in the USA with a locking, 154CM steel, modified Wharncliffe style blade. Not to be confused with automatic knives, assisted opening knives do not open at the press of a button. The blade is held closed until it has been manually opened past the thirty degree position. Once the blade has been partially opened, it then engages a spring to rapidly open the blade.

The force to open the blade is provided by an 'Optimiser', which is a removeable spring bar. The knife may be converted into a normal 'un-assisted' liner-lock by removing the 'Optimiser'
